I bought this laptop a few weeks ago and had Geek Squad set it up. Its a HP G60 Notebook PC, AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-64 2.10 GHz, 3.00GB of RAM with Windows Vista SP2 Up to date. I am having a problem with my disk drive. It stopped working a little while ago. I put a dvd or cd in and it spins and work normaly. But i cannot find the drive on my computer. I opened up Device manager and checked the drive to see if there was a problem. The status for the drive said this: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) The only solution I have for this would be my anti virus program Norton 360. When It does a scan it also does a registry clean. The sad thing is I never had Norton 360 do a backup. Thank you in advance! Hi, Since the computer is new you definitely should get the maker's support involved as it could be a known issue. If they have forums check in those as well. Be sure to contact Support even if the below clears it. Code 19 usually means there is a driver conflict or it can't find the driver. Optiarc Dvd Rw Ad 7561s Ata Device Driver for Windows 7 32 bit, Windows 7 64 bit, Windows 10, 8, XP. Uploaded on 4/12/2018, downloaded 1844 times, receiving a 87/100 rating by 429 users. Select uninstall 'do not delete the drivers'. My dvd rom Optiarc DVD RW AD-7561S ATA device is not. Software that would not let me download so you def stopped. Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. If you show CD/DVD drives you do not actually have then UNINSTALL those as well at the same time you do your regular drive. Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.
